EDWARD THE BLACK

Lord Edward the Black is 38 years old, and the highest-ranking nobility in the region. He is also the Duke of Falstone, and the Lord of Dally Castle. He is married to Lady Joan, and together they have a daughter Princess Sophie. He is known as an honest and fair man. He is kind to the townsfolk as well as his staff. His priority has always been to improve his town and better his people. He spearheaded a movement to pave the muddy ruts between towns with stone paths. He also had the vision to build a trading market in his town coinciding with the completion of the new roads. 

A former military man, Edward had his title and lands bestowed to him for his service in the war. He is a good leader, and his soldiers of the castle follow him without question. He employed Gerard's father and later Gerard as gamekeeper of Kielder Forest, which surrounds the town of Falstone.

* Enjoys a rare love match with his wife Joan. 

* Is both proud and frustrated by his daughter's stubbornness.

* Not above killing somebody who displeases him.

* Almost started a war with Scotland by accident.
